The remote control for my old recorder broke, so I bought a universal type, but it didn't work with the unit. (So, to be precise, it's not "unused," as I opened the box, put in batteries, and tried pressing the buttons.) By the way, the unit was a REGZA from 2011. For those using other models, even when buying in a store, they say you can only tell if it works by trying it! I hope this helps you!
