Adjust it upwards for hard carving, and downwards for freestyle or mellow cruising, as you prefer. Also, the base has HEAD's unique Dampflex structure, which provides different flex on the left and right sides of the foot, allowing for flexible power transmission between the boots and the board. It might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it feels like you're riding in powder even on hard snow. My wife used these until last year.
