This is an antique "wooden mallet" good luck charm awarded at Kitamuki Kannon in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture. Ueda has a historic six-sided, medium-sized carved good luck charm called "Somin Shorai." This wooden mallet is thought to be a derivative type, showing many similarities to "Somin Shorai" in its painting and sculpting. Although it is a wooden mallet motif, it has been significantly stylized and is a very unique sculptural piece. This was purchased around 2018 at "Bath House," the shop and office of "Swimsuit Department" located in Kita-Aoyama, Tokyo. After purchase, it was kept in a corner of my living room (in a dark place without direct sunlight), so there is no subsequent sun fading or discoloration. However, please understand that as it is vintage, there are some damages such as chips on the tip and other minor scratches. Dimensions are approximately 140mm (length) x 75mm (width) x 55mm (depth). Please allow for some error as these are amateur measurements. As I personally like vintage furniture and used clothing, I have stored it alongside them, so those who are particularly sensitive to odors should be cautious when bidding. I do not smoke, so that should not be an issue.
