The blacked-out area in the image is where a name is engraved, but it's not very noticeable. I've had the genuine leather maintained once, but there's still the feel of aged leather. I think it can still be used. I'd like to keep it, but I haven't used it in years, so I'll pass it on to someone who will use it.
