This is a set of scrap leather with the grain side from directly above the cordovan. When making cordovan, after tanning the surface of the horse's rump (buttocks) from the surface to the cordovan layer in a pit, only the cordovan part is skived off. At that time, the grain side (surface) part becomes unnecessary. Due to the skiving process, the thickness is not uniform and is basically skived off at a smooth angle. The thickness is about 2.5mm to just under 1mm. I think it can be widely used for practice such as stamping, dyeing, carving, wet forming, and squeezing, as well as for making tags, small items, samples, and more.
