This is a highly rare UK original stereo record of the Beatles' landmark debut album. Both sides are first press matrix 1 & mother 1, with stamper numbers in the single digits on one side and in the teens on the other, making it extremely early. The stamper numbers indicate an early label & early cover, and the disc is in surprisingly good condition for being 60 years old, with excellent playback. This is recommended for those who want a record that rivals the sound of the million-yen gold label. This "Please Please Me" is a 4th label with the "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963" notation, which is standard for the mono version, but extremely rare for the stereo version. Even among the stereo first pressings, there are several label variations from the 60s, but this is a very early one. The gold label is worth over a million yen, while the 3rd yellow label is around 300,000 yen at the low end, making this a great deal. The jacket is an early specification with a large "STEREO" and comes complete with the original inner sleeve. This is from a collection that I have especially cherished. 94-1 T 1 95-1 GO 1 The Beatles members were only present for the mixing of the mono version, which was redone many times and the master tape deteriorated. However, the stereo version was not attended by the members and is said to have a very fresh sound. The debut album begins with Paul's count-in and ends with John's throat-shredding vocals, but it's the stereo version, with its completely separated left and right channel positioning, that allows you to hear their energy and delicate performance. The jacket is an early specification and is prone to damage, but it's in good condition for being 50 years old. The original inner sleeve has some damage on the sides. The disc has some hairline scratches when held up to the light, but it's clean. In my setup (AT-VMN95E), there was no noticeable noise even when listening right in front of the speakers, and even when listening closely with my ear pressed against the speakers, there were only a few spots where I could detect background noise, making it superb. There are, of course, no fatal playback issues, but the way the sound is perceived and the actual playback condition will vary depending on the playback environment, such as the shape and wear of the stylus, the characteristics of the cartridge, the arm settings, the tracking force, and the overall combination of playback equipment. As you can see from my past reviews, my impressions seem to be almost identical to those of my buyers, but please purchase only if you understand used records. I do not smoke, and I do not have any pets.
