Cha-baori (茶羽織) A tea-colored haori. This one is made of a grayish-toned, tsumugi-style fabric in a base of wisteria color with stripes of varying shades of blue and red. It's a type of haori (a traditional Japanese jacket worn over a kimono), but it's not for going out. It's used as a house garment. The length is short, about waist-length, so it won't wrinkle even when you sit seiza-style (kneeling). There are no gussets under the arms. It's worn by tying the fabric ties sewn onto the collar, instead of using haori cords. The image is easy to understand if you think of the haori often provided at Japanese inns. It has pockets on the lower front left and right sides, which is convenient. Photos 5 and 7.
