This is a two-tiered round jubako (lacquered food container) from Yamada Heian-do. It's a festive and gorgeous jubako with vermilion lacquer and gold leaf, featuring a crane design, which is considered auspicious. It's also suitable for bento lunches. I understand it was made by lacquer artist Tomonori Goutou. It's an old item, and there is some wear and discoloration of the gold leaf. Please check the photos. The vermilion lacquer has deepened with age, giving it a rich, beautiful color.
