I purchased this approximately 20 years ago in Yemen and have kept it carefully stored. It's a waist wrap for men who live near the sea. I was able to see them weaving it one by one with care on a loom in a fishing village. I believe the material is cotton, but I'm not certain. It's thick and heavy, so it's durable. I think it can be used in various ways. It seems to be made by joining two pieces of cloth in the middle. Given the current difficulties in traveling there, I believe this is quite a valuable item. There is no noticeable damage, but as it is handmade, there may be some fraying. Please understand that there may be other minor oversights as well.
