It is made of kanshitsu (dry lacquer) and is in excellent condition with no damage. ※ Height: Approximately 48cm ※ Comes with a matching box ⚫︎ Dojoji Temple The Anchin and Kiyohime legend is famous in Noh and Kabuki. Dojoji Temple is the setting for this legend. Dojoji Temple was founded in the first year of Taiho (701) by the decree of Emperor Monmu, and houses numerous important cultural properties, including the National Treasure, the Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva, Nikko Bosatsu, and Gakko Bosatsu. ⚫︎ Dojoji "Anchin and Kiyohime Legend" The Anchin and Kiyohime legend is a legend related to Dojoji Temple in Kii Province (Wakayama Prefecture), which is themed on the tragic love and passion of the protagonists. The original stories, such as those found in the Heian period's "Dai Nihon Kokuhoukenki" and "Konjaku Monogatari Shu," only mention a monk on a pilgrimage to Kumano and a widow at an inn, without mentioning their names. ⚫︎ Noh and Kabuki "The Tragic Love Story of Anchin and Kiyohime" The tragic love story of Anchin and Kiyohime takes place in the 6th year of the Encho era, 230 years after the temple was founded. Kiyohime falls in love with the monk Anchin, who sought lodging for the night during his pilgrimage, and upon learning of his betrayal, transforms into a giant snake and pursues Anchin, ultimately burning him to death inside the bell of Dojoji Temple. This tragic love story of "Anchin and Kiyohime" was recorded in the 11th century in "Hokke Genki" and is well-known as "Dojoji Mono" in Noh, puppet theater, and Kabuki. ⚫︎ Bell Memorial Service One day in spring, in Kii Province...
