RIMOWA/Rimowa 958.77 "Savannah Late" 2-Wheel Retractable Side Handle Waterproof Aluminum Case, 98L, Discontinued & Extremely Rare ■This is the final specification of the 956, the successor to RIMOWA's 1996 aluminum case "Savannah," a lightweight and nimble model that made extensive use of resin parts, including nested inner trays. This is a very rare case, likely unlike any other, as Rimowa challenged the status quo with its advanced design, evolving from the more commonly seen pull-tab Savannah. It's a 1996 model that replaced the previous turn-key system with RIMOWA's first SUDHAUS combination lock, featuring an easy-to-lock and unlock latch. After changing from the small-diameter wheels of the earlier models to larger wheels for improved running performance, the design evolved from the earlier models, which simply attached pull tabs directly to the case. The new design incorporated a recessed housing for storage and a retractable L-shaped stick that could be folded and stored without protruding, resulting in a more sophisticated design. The interior features a resin inner shell tray, similar to Rimowa's camera cases, making it a heavy-duty, tough aluminum case that can handle various items, including wet suits and items covered in sand or mud. ●The condition shows some scratches, scuffs, and dents from use, but it is in good vintage condition without any large, noticeable dents, scratches, or damage that would compromise the form.
