Born in Izushi-cho, Izushi-gun, Hyogo Prefecture (Toyooka City). Born into a family of Izushi ware kiln owners who have passed down through generations. Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts. First selected for the Nitten in 1965. Since then, he has been active mainly in Nitten, Japan Contemporary Craft Art Exhibition, and Hyogo Prefectural Craft Art Writers Association. He succeeded to the fourth generation Eishin in 1979. Awarded the Tokusen (Special Selection) at Nitten in 1995 and 2000. Received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award at the Japan Contemporary Craft Art Exhibition in 2015. Nagasawa's white porcelain is highly regarded both inside and outside the prefecture, with his works displayed at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. The white porcelain is made from pure white clay from local stones, shaped into rounded forms on a potter's wheel, and exudes a soft atmosphere.
