This is an antique, genuine silk, pull-through obi with a retro-modern impression due to its Sarasa pattern. A pull-through obi is a colloquial term derived from the method of tying a maru obi, which was commonly used during the Edo to Taisho periods. When tying the obi, instead of pulling the end of the tare (the hanging part) all the way through and tying it, the term "pull-through" refers to "pulling through only the part that becomes the taiko (drum shape)" so that the tare remains. The condition has some light stains on the outer fabric and lining, as shown in the close-up images. There is also some damage to the embroidery thread. This item is an antique or vintage item. As it has transcended time, the threads and fabric are different from new or modern items and may be weakened or damaged.
