Diameter: 16cm Height: 7.4cm This is a kodai-zara (footed plate) made using techniques similar to Mishima-chawan (tea bowls). The clay seems soft, and the feel in hand is similar to Hagi-yaki. I researched several production areas for Mishima-de (Mishima style) inlay, and it feels like it might be from the Kyoto area or the Kansai region. There is no mark, so this is just for reference! There are cracks (kannyu) throughout, so it might be best to "medome" (seal the pores) by soaking it in rice washing water before using it. It was introduced as a tea utensil, but I'm not familiar with the tea ceremony, so I'm not sure. For size reference, I took a picture with some of my other utensils. It seems suitable for serving small sweets or fruits ^_^ I believe the techniques and shape are derived from the Joseon Dynasty. For those who like Oriental antiques, how about it? I don't know the kiln, but it was in the shop's inventory. It's not as old as an antique. It is unused.
