During the Edo period, they spread widely throughout the country. There were Shoami in Iyo, Awa, Aizu, Akita, Shonai, Edo, Harima, etc. This work is a general term for Shoami who moved to Kyoto and is thought to be a work from around the middle of the Edo period. The auspicious Noshi pattern is precisely expressed with gold nunome inlay, and a chrysanthemum design is placed alongside it, making it a fine example of a pierced tsuba that carries good luck. It is a motif that was favored from the early to mid-Edo period. This work, beautifully expressed with gold inlay, is a piece to be enjoyed and is a masterpiece that will look great even when mounted on a koshirae (sword mounting).
