This is a tea ceremony utensil: a black raku tea bowl, named "Shunzan" (Spring Mountain), made by Michitoshi Nakamura of the Yagoto kiln, with a calligraphy inscription by Myogensai. It was purchased previously for 225,000 yen (excluding tax) for the tea bowl, 50,000 yen for the inscription on the back, totaling 275,000 yen (excluding tax). The person who purchased this item resided relatively close to the Yagoto kiln and had interactions with the artist's kiln. Naturally, this item was purchased directly from the artist. This is a work by Michitoshi Nakamura, a master craftsman of the Yagoto kiln in Nagoya. The powerful yet gentle style of the work harmonizes beautifully with the deep black glaze. Within a single bowl, the wabi-sabi of the Momoyama period and modern sophistication coexist, creating a tea bowl that brings a strong presence to the tea ceremony.
