This item is in near-new condition. This tea bowl is a black tea bowl, Makuyu Kuro-raku, created by Yukio Ogawa (son of the Nagara family), who carries on the lineage of the Chouraku family. Within the deep, black color, a scene reminiscent of the night sky appears in this bowl. The slightly rough texture of the clay and the simple warmth when held in the hand, I believe this is a masterpiece that gives the user a sense of security. The shape is moderately distorted and fits naturally in the hand. When matcha is prepared, the vibrant green color beautifully reflects on the black glaze, enhancing the time of the tea ceremony. The artist, Yukio Ogawa, is a ceramic artist who follows the tradition of the Chouraku family, who have been making Kuro-raku for generations. He is known for creating works that incorporate a modern sensibility while preserving tradition. I believe this work is also a piece that combines strength and elegance.
