[8] Shape: Medium-sized natural inkstone ◉ About the Work This work is made from the famous Suzuka stone, a specialty of Wakasa Town, Yazu District, Tottori Prefecture, and has a color similar to Ryukei stone inkstones. The beautiful reddish-brown rust color is visible around the four sides of the inkstone, making it unique. It has an interesting, slightly horizontal shape that makes full use of the natural stone. The inkstone rim has been carefully flattened. The rough treatment of the inkstone's underside suggests it is a relatively old work. ◯ It is also wonderful as an object and can be called a craftwork with a strong presence. The hills and sea do not show clear stone patterns, but when light is applied, they sparkle like silver sand grains. Within them, fine white lines, like scratches from a cat's claw, can be seen in two places: the upper right and the middle of the hill. When you place your fingertip on the inside of the trapezoidal inkstone rim, it is sharp enough to cut, demonstrating the high skill of the inkstone maker.
