Nanakidaime Nakagawa Jōeki (1796-1859) Translucent Crystal-Shaped Pierced Ladle Stand (Flower Vase) Height: 17.8cm, Body Diameter: 7.5cm This is a valuable work by the renowned craftsman Nanakidaime Nakagawa Jōeki, the seventh generation and considered the restorer of the Nakagawa family, one of the Senke Jisshoku (Ten Masters of the Senke). It comes with its original box, and due to his unique calligraphy style, he was also known as "Igami Jōeki" (Jōeki the Distorted). The box inscription reads "Translucent Crystal-Shaped Pierced Ladle Stand," but considering its shape, size, and modern-day use, the title has been changed to "Flower Vase." This work, made of shachihari (a type of bronze) which the seventh generation Jōeki was known for, features a unique chasen (tea whisk) shape with rectangular piercings on the body, resulting in a very modern design.
