The ink grinds easily, flows smoothly, and can be used from thick to light shades, suitable for kana (Japanese syllabary), kanji (Chinese characters), ink wash painting, sutra copying, and fine writing. Highly recommended ink. The title calligraphy is by the Abbot of Tofukuji Temple, Keigetsu Takei, which is also a World Heritage site. The ink name, Tsuten, is taken from the Tsuten Bridge in Tofukuji Temple. The dragon on the back of the ink is a motif from the painting on the ceiling of the Hatto (Dharma Hall) of Tofukuji Temple by the painter Insho Domoto. The real painting is incredible. This ink has the traditional craft product Suzuka Sumi seal. Tsuten is said to be a Suzuka secret ink. Upon researching what "secret ink" means, it turns out that it is an ink made in imitation of the secret ink of Emperor Shomu in the Shosoin Treasure Repository. The large ink has a boat-shaped form. The manufacturer went out of business a long time ago, so it is quite old ink.
