Shoko, Atsuro's wife, tacitly accepts her husband's promiscuous relationships and continues their marriage. However, Atsuro and Miharu, both writers, become deeply connected not only physically but also through "writing." This film is based on the novel of the same name by Naoki Prize-winning author Arino Inoue, which was inspired by his father, Mitsuharu Inoue, his mother, and Setouchi Jakucho, who had a relationship with his father. The film depicts how men and women, each with spouses or partners, are drawn to each other, becoming deeply connected not only physically but also through "writing," and becoming irreplaceable to each other.
