Known as one of the "Three Great Uchiwa of Japan," Boshu Uchiwa from Chiba is a traditional craft representing Chiba Prefecture, passed down in the Minamiboso region. The "round handle" that utilizes the natural roundness of bamboo is a characteristic feature, and the beautiful "window" with a lattice pattern is created by weaving the ribs, split into 48 to 64 sections, with thread. There are a total of 21 processes in making "Boshu Uchiwa," and most of them are done by hand. They are carefully crafted one by one by skilled traditional craftsman. This item was received as a gift from a friend of my mother. This item has been stored at home for many years. The box and wrapping bag have discoloration due to aging, but the main body is in relatively clean condition as it is unopened.
