The more zinc, the more golden it becomes. Common examples include five-yen coins and brass band instruments. Highly popular alongside copper pots, this is a brass pan with a beautiful golden color. Compared to copper pots, it is more durable, reducing dents and warping on the rim and bottom. However, due to the decline in skilled casters and the rising cost of copper, production has decreased, making it a high-end item today. This is a brass tempura pan with a size of 39cm, a commercial specification. The maker's mark is stamped on the underside of the pan, but I'm not entirely sure of it. With a thickness of about 6mm, it has excellent heat retention, making it ideal for tempura. Besides tempura, this shape and thickness are also perfect for winter hot pot dishes. Also, as mentioned earlier, due to the rising cost of raw materials, pans with this thickness are very rare today. Considering that the brass pans of the renowned Aritsugu are 2mm thick, this is an exceptional piece with more than three times the thickness and materials. Currently, Aritsugu does not manufacture brass tempura pans, so there is no reference, but a similar brass sukiyaki pan is 28cm and costs around ¥180,000. Regarding the condition, I polished it with a metal scrub and polishing compound, but the black scorch marks could not be removed. The black scorch marks on the inner surface are mostly gone, but the underside of the pan is very stubborn. There are no problems with use, but since it bothers me, I will offer it at a slightly discounted price. After receiving your order, I will polish it and ship it in a shiny condition, but oxidation is unavoidable due to the properties of copper, brass, and gunmetal.
