A long, antique color thread embroidered cloth, a table/cabinet runner, from Provence, Southern France, circa the early 1900s. Flower baskets are placed at both ends of the gentle off-white base. In the handled baskets, a variety of naturally colored wildflowers are gently embroidered as if they were picked and arranged. Red and coral poppies, White and lime green marguerites, Blue gradient cornflowers, White and yellow chamomile, A natural arrangement in a handled basket woven with yellow and brown. The spaces feature shades of pink like primroses and a garland of burgundy small flowers. The trim is edged with a soft, crocheted-style torsion lace, enhancing its elegance and coolness. The material is cotton, or possibly a cotton & linen blend. It feels medium-thick or slightly thicker than medium-thick, and has a sturdy robustness. It's a bit stiff compared to others, but has a warm, natural texture. The unironed, washed look is also appealing. The following measurements are approximate, so please forgive any errors. Long side: 108 cm & Short side: 43.5 cm Weight: Approximately 112g Within the trim lace, there are a few small, light brown and red spots. I personally feel they are hardly noticeable. There are four faint ink marks... marks as if ink had been dropped, which blend into the embroidery and are not very noticeable, but can be seen on the white background. (They are visible on the right edge in the cabinet photo) The sizes are, from top to bottom: approximately 1.2 cm, 1.8 cm, 1.3 cm, and 9 mm in diameter. There is also a line mark of about 5 mm nearby. A thin black line, about 1.5 cm long, like a pencil line, and a faint ink mark of about 3 mm can also be seen on the right edge. The embroidery underdrawing was drawn with graphite, and pencil marks can be seen overall under the embroidery. I imagine that graphite shavings from the underdrawing scattered and the marks were made when water spilled. They did not come out even after home cleaning in May 2022. Please understand that it is in a clean condition. Other minor imperfections are due to the old handmade nature of the piece, so please be understanding. m(_ _)m It is quite long, and when placed on a long table, entryway, windowsill, cabinet, or chest, it will enhance a natural and gentle atmosphere and look beautiful. It is also lovely to hang it as a tapestry from a wall or window. It can be used in spring, summer, autumn, and winter. I would be happy if someone who likes it can make good use of it. ✧
