This is a stole made from antique Yūki-tsumugi fabric. The pattern is a kirihame floral design, which, as the name suggests, is a pattern composed of various floral motifs cut and pieced together with different patterns and colors. This is a very popular pattern in antique Yūki-tsumugi, and if you look closely, each individual pattern is woven in a kikko (tortoise shell) pattern. Yūki-tsumugi is said to improve with wear over three generations, and its wonderful texture is supple. When the starch is removed to a moderate degree, it becomes surprisingly light and fluffy. Because Yūki-tsumugi shrinks considerably, this stole is made slightly longer than the listed size (200cm x 36cm) to account for shrinkage. Yūki-tsumugi is a traditional Japanese fabric that is the envy of all kimono enthusiasts, but as a stole, it can be worn casually by people of all ages. This time, we made it from leftover fabric, so we've made it more affordable. The edges of the stole are finished with a picot stitch. *The label from the beginning of the fabric roll, "Kashage," shown in the image, is not included. We have tried to avoid areas with stains or damage as much as possible, but we are using old fabric, so we ask for your understanding if you are purchasing this item as a kimono remake.
