The fishermen of the Shimane Peninsula truly have kind faces. Having encountered the Shimane Peninsula, I received the right to purchase fresh fish from the Eicho Fishermen's Cooperative in 1985, and I am still doing so today. I was moved by the lives of the fishermen, who were half-farmers and half-fishermen, or rather, full-time farmers and full-time fishermen, and we also borrowed a field and a farm in Kashima-cho and tried it ourselves. But the amount of work was incredible. I was exhausted, and I fell asleep while delivering fish, and I almost drove into the oncoming lane in front of a large truck, many times. I had to go on sick leave. For me, I was also given a rented house, and I have been living in the fishing village of Eku for 34 years. As a small fishmonger, I have been living a life of human recovery. I started visiting the Shimane Peninsula at the age of 18, and now I am 66 years old. What is important as a human being? The people of the Shimane Peninsula and the fishing villages teach me through their lives, day by day, how to be a person and how to live. The fishing villages of the Shimane Peninsula have also changed. Now, there are no more silkworm farmers, and due to the drastic decline in catches, the fish auction market in Eiryo was closed in 2015. Even so, I still receive seafood directly from the fishermen, and also receive fish from the Matsue fish market, and I deliver them to people all over the country. This photo collection is a report of my recent situation, expressing my gratitude and apologies to those who have helped me. Originally, I should have obtained permission to publish the photos from all the people in the photos and their bereaved families, but I couldn't do that, and I apologize. Also, there may be discrepancies in the dates of the photos and the captions. I would be grateful if you could point them out.
