This is a set of four antique nested lacquerware bowls. The natural wood base is layered with a deep red lacquer. Each bowl is carefully crafted, and their stacked appearance is charming. There are no noticeable scratches, and the condition is good for its age. There is a tiny chip in the lacquer on the rim of the smallest bowl from storage, but it does not affect its use. The deep red lacquer has a beautiful sheen. The wood base is thick and sturdy towards the bottom. The bottom part has a distinctive shape (Photos 6 & 9). It looks like a bowl from Jōbōji lacquerware in Iwate, but it's not certain. This set includes a rice bowl, a soup bowl, and two side dish bowls. The four bowls nest together. They can be used practically. They also look lovely displayed stacked together.
