This is a small, "Heiran Sho" (碧浪 小) calligraphy brush made of wool, purchased nearly 40 years ago from the Shanghai Arts & Crafts Company in China. The brush head is approximately 2.8 cm long and 6.5 mm in diameter, and it has been fully opened. It is made with a generous amount of high-quality, delicate wool, so it holds ink well. On standard paper, it can be used to create expressive lines for kanji characters that are about 6-12 characters in size. The brush is crafted with a slender, fine-grained wooden shaft and water buffalo horn at the top and bottom, giving it a luxurious feel. This brush is also suitable for writing small poems or calligraphy on colored paper. The tip of the brush has a slight green tint due to having been used with green pigment, but this does not affect its performance. The total length of the brush is approximately 24 cm.
