This was purchased at the Denshokan as a souvenir when I visited during the Grand Shikinen Sengu of Izumo Taisha Shrine in 2013 (once every 60 years, and also the same year as Ise Jingu Shrine's Sengu). Three colors of magatama (comma-shaped beads) - white, red, and green - are connected to form a tomoe (comma) shape. * *Please note that there are no instructions, so details such as the type of stone and origin are unknown. After purchase, I displayed it with the lid of the paulownia box open, but I have been storing it with the lid closed for several years. I don't see any scratches or stains on the magatama, but I may have overlooked something as I am not a professional. I am a non-smoker and have no pets. No comments, immediate purchase is OK. For those who understand that this is a used item that has been inspected by an amateur and stored at home, thank you. -Quote- Izumo Taisha Shrine (Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture) and Ise Jingu Shrine (Ise City, Mie Prefecture) both welcomed their Sengu (rebuilding and relocation of the main sanctuary). 2013 (Heisei 25) was a year of good luck with a "double Sengu," as Ise Jingu Shrine holds it every 20 years, and Izumo Taisha Shrine holds it once every 60 years, making it the first double Sengu in 60 years since 1953 (Showa 28).
