This is a navy blue tsukesage homongi (semi-formal visiting kimono). It is a type of satin weave, with a surface texture similar to the skin of a pear, known as nashi-ji (pear skin weave). There are two types of satin weave: tate-jako (warp-faced satin) where the warp threads float more, and yoko-jako (weft-faced satin) where the weft threads float more. This kimono is tate-jako, woven with the weft threads skipping three threads (Photos 12 and 13). It is made of a new chirimen (crepe) weave with a pear-skin-like satin weave pattern. Roses and six-petaled clematis are depicted on a silver plain fabric, and the patterns are white-outlined and shaded. The entire kimono is dyed in a purplish-navy blue. The silver plain fabric has a sense of weight and luster, giving it an elegant and high-class feel. The dye adheres well, and the colors are beautiful. The roses are shaded in red and rose colors, and the clematis in white and slightly reddish-yellow, creating a beautiful contrast with the navy blue. Gold glitter is scattered in places on the roses and flowers drawn in navy blue (Photo 11 is a close-up of the gold glitter and fabric). About 50 years ago, navy blue and purple-toned kimonos were said to sell well in snowy regions or during economic downturns, but nowadays, this doesn't seem to be the case, and they are popular as Showa retro kimonos. Navy blue makes your face stand out and look beautiful. It's only natural that it's popular with ladies. It's like your face emerges from the navy blue, just like the roses and clematis in the kimono pattern. The lining is white habutae (silk lining), and the hakke (lining of the skirt) is made of seika chirimen (high-quality crepe) fabric, shaded in vermilion. Measurements (cm) Height (from back): 151.5, Sleeve to sleeve: 65, Sleeve width: 33.5, Sleeve length: 48, Back width: 29.5, Front width: 24 Wide collar, with bare snaps attached. Recommended for those around 152cm tall, depending on body type. There is a faint foundation mark on the right collar (Photos 2-4). On the white petals at the hem of the left front panel, the gofun (white pigment) has rubbed off, and the dye of the pink petals below seems to have slightly surfaced, but it is hardly noticeable (Photos 1, 7-10). There appear to be no other stains or dirt. We have checked for stains and dirt as thoroughly as possible, but there may be oversights. We appreciate your understanding.
