This is a red raku ware piece that shows signs of frequent use. I believe it's a rare item. Perhaps it's from the late Edo period, made in Kyoto. It has a tatami base, with some glaze flaking, and some chips and small imperfections on the rim. Suitable for everyday use as a teacup. Also good as a large sake cup, or as a small tea bowl for tea ceremony, or a tea caddy bowl. It has spatula carving on two sides. Diameter: Approximately 7.5cm Height: Approximately 5.4cm There is a faint reaction under a black light in several places on the rim, so it may have been repaired in some way. Sizes are approximate. As it is an old item, there are age-related scratches and stains. The actual color may differ slightly from the images.
