Thank you for viewing. This is an elaborate antique maru obi (full-length obi) with patterns on both sides. It is likely a Karaori (a type of woven fabric) and appears to be from the early Showa era. It's a substantial obi, and it seems there are no signs of it having been tied. I purchased it over a decade ago from a famous antique kimono shop in Ginza. I bought it intending to have it altered into a fukuro obi (formal obi) or a Nagoya obi (casual obi) to wear, but it's such a beautiful maru obi that I couldn't bring myself to alter it, and it has been stored in a paulownia chest of drawers ever since. 【Dimensions】 ⚫︎Length: Approximately 416 cm ⚫︎Width: Approximately 31 cm 【Material】 Pure silk 【Colors】 Orange, beige, gold, silver, green, etc. 【Construction】 Maru Obi *For hiki-nuki musubi (a specific obi knotting style) (the pattern will be upside down with a standard otaiko musubi (drum knot)) 【Condition】 ⚫︎Due to long-term storage, there are some slight scuffs on the edges and fold lines, but there is almost no dirt or damage, and I believe it is in good condition for an antique item.
