It's an affordable guitar that offers excellent sound and build quality, making it a recommended choice. The body has a maple top/agathis back construction, providing a moderate weight and a sense of quality. The neck is maple with a rosewood fingerboard and a bolt-on construction. Unlike recent entry-level models that often use lightweight materials, the SL380 is characterized by its unique resonance due to its use of sturdy wood. While it differs from the traditional Les Paul sound using mahogany, the hard and heavy wood produces a clear, tight, and bright tone with well-defined contours. Furthermore, the bolt-on neck construction provides a faster response than a set-neck Les Paul. The thin urethane finish has a lacquer-like gloss, achieving excellent resonance and clear sound projection. The pickups produce a sweet and clear humbucker sound, suitable for both clean and overdrive tones. It shows signs of use commensurate with its age, with some rust on the metal parts and a slight crack on the headstock. The neck is straight, and while the frets show some wear, there are no buzzing or dead spots. The electrical system is also functioning without any issues.
