This is a pre-painted, finished model of the P-47D Thunderbolt fighter plane, operated by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. The scale is 1/48, made by Micro Ace. (Originally, it seems to be a kit released by Arai Seisakusho, with Micro Ace taking over the molds and continuing to sell it.) It's basically built straight from the box, all brush-painted. It's glued in a flying state, but the landing gear parts are also included! The main wing parts were difficult to glue in the kit's original state, so brass wire was used to force the connection. The base color is silver. The silver tones of the flaps and ailerons have been changed. Red, yellow, etc. are used as accent colors. The decals are from the kit, but only the national insignia uses the separately sold "for Thunderbolt" size. The red on the flaps was reproduced with paint. Please check the photos for the instruction manual and other accessories. Although it is unassembled, bombs that can be attached to the underside of the fuselage and the underside of the main wing are included. The "Thunderbolt" was developed by Republic. It's a machine born from the macho concept of flying a large and heavy aircraft, larger than any single-engine reciprocating engine of the same generation, with a high-powered engine! In actual combat, it was a great success as a ground attack aircraft, equipped with a large amount of firepower, including eight Browning 12.7mm machine guns, as well as bombs and rockets. It was feared by the German army and was called "Jabo (short for Jagdbomber)". This kit reproduces the early model of the "Thunderbolt D type" equipped with a "fastback canopy". This type was called "Razorback" because the sharply tapered upper fuselage was likened to a "razor". Although it had high speed performance, it was unpopular with pilots because "it was difficult to see behind!", and it led to the D type equipped with a "bubble canopy". The kit reproduces the aircraft of Major Robert S. Johnson of the 56th Fighter Squadron, 8th Air Force. The flashy color scheme based on unpainted silver looks glaring and aggressive!
