I made it as a cute mini straw sandal, so I don't recommend it for that purpose... - If using it as a straw sandal, fold it lengthwise and rub it against the bowstring. - If you rub it well, the bow grip will lower by 3-5 mm even with synthetic strings. - The string will tighten, improving the string sound and making it less likely to break. Straw sandals are also called "Waraji" (和楽路), and are very popular as good luck charms for various life events (childbirth, school entrance, travel, etc.).
