This is likely an old Wajima-nuri lacquerware bowl. It features a deep-colored, gold-rimmed vermilion lacquer with elegant flower and plant maki-e (sprinkled picture) designs. The motifs are arrowhead and hosta. The maki-e work, incorporating silver, is very carefully and tastefully done. While there is little sign of use, there are some thin cracks as shown in the images. The size is 13 cm in diameter and 8.5 cm in height. Please understand that this is an antique item.
