This is an unused inkstone, but it is a Tosa inkstone that has been tuned by Minista (remodeling the ink well and ink surface to improve the performance of the inkstone). It was made by Mr. Muroya of Mihara Inkstone Works, and comes with a Tosa inkstone cloth and a bookmark. The edge of the inkstone has a rock-like shape, but it is a design. It is made to look like reddish-brown stone skin, and the craftsmanship is elaborate. This inkstone is made with great care. Tosa inkstone was formerly known as "Tosa Bankei". (It is not called Tosa Bankei now) It is an inkstone made using black stone quarried in Araya, Mihara Village, Kochi Prefecture. It is close to the quarry of Soryu stone, and the process of stone formation and transformation is almost the same. Perhaps because of this, the ink grinding is outstanding. It is especially good for kanji (up to full-size paper) and kana (up to full-size paper), but it can also be used for ink painting and Japanese painting. It is easy to produce unique three-dimensional lines, so it is also good for writing lines with distinctive features. It is a large inkstone, and the ink well is also deeply carved.
